Intraocular Medicine Implants
Some conditions require sustained levels of medications inside the eye for successful control or treatment. Surgically implantable devices that provide long-term controlled release of medication have been developed and are available for certain infectious and inflammatory conditions of the eye. These implants are sutured in the eye in the operating room as an outpatient procedure under local anesthesia with sedation. The implants are well tolerated and are not seen or felt by the patient after the surgical sites have healed.
